Gastronomic restaurant

Befitting its prestigious appearance, the décor of the gastronomic restaurant La Table du Gourmet in Riquewihr is inspired by Feng Shui. Dressed in red, the walls express the sheer creativity behind every dish and the desire for it to be truly memorable.

The charm comes also from the building, which dates from 16th century. Its 450 year old beams are highlighted by a specially chosen chocolate colour. A cloud of sculpted glass is suspended from the ceiling, as if to stop time. It diffuses a soft and subtle light that will enhance the discovery of each dish, and beyond it can be discerned the polychrome so typical of Alsace.

The cuisine of Jean-Luc Brendel is faithful to a single theme : “terroir and creativity”, and is designed both to astonish and to permit certain forgotten tastes to be rediscovered. Each new creation is an elation of flavour which fully respects the ingredient. His cuisine is also marked by the simplicity of drawing out the aromas and colours of each season in Alsace.

J.L. Brendel, cuisine and distinctions

Above all, Jean-Luc Brendel is passionate about, and loves, cooking. Tastes and flavours that remind him at every moment of his childhood, and other memories. Simple pleasures that he has been able to call on for his daily pleasure : his profession.

His passion has evolved over the years with each new discovery. Meeting other people and visiting other countries has taught him other ways of cooking, without ever losing sight of his roots in Alsace and the town of Riquewihr as his sources of inspiration. The landscape speaks for itself : vineyards as far as the eye can see, villages with their coloured houses, and nature that is rich and generous… This blend of regional colours and flavours has enabled Jean-Luc Brendel to create “his” Alsace cuisine with its own culinary landscape. Like an artist painting a picture, the Chef composes his dish to convey poetry and magic.

With his restaurant, Jean-Luc Brendel’s wish is for all Gourmets to discover his cuisine, hence the restaurant’s name : “The Gourmet’s Table”…

« La Table du Goumet » makes a perfect setting to hold private receptions, dinners and celebrations. Our savoir-faire is at your disposal to create bespoke events, to suit your every requirement.
